Day 38 - 8/22/2004 - On to Flagstaff
Today was planned out as a travel day. Originally we had planned to go to Zion National Park, but since the school year is creeping closer, we decided to head over to the Grand Canyon and Mt. Humphreys area. We did manage to squeeze Hoover Dam into the trip though. As always, we ended up with an adventure. They were conducting security checks of vehicles driving over the dam, and of course we still had the Biohazard Food Bins in the back. Going through the check, they waved us over for a more thorough inspection. This was the point where we were getting very concerned. All they wanted to do was check the cargo carrier on top of the car. We open it up, they looked in, and we were on our way. Whew!!!
After the dam tour, we cruised down 93 and into Kingman AZ for lunch. We jumped on I-40, and cruised on to Flagstaff. During the trip, we passed Seligman, and stopped for a picture next to Route 66. On the way, we decided to try Mt. Humphreys on Monday.
