Day 35 - 8/19/2004 - Yosemite (not pronounced Yos-might)

After a quick bite, it was down I-5 toward Stockton and then on to Yosemite for a couple of days.  On the way down to Yosemite, I tried calling and old friend of mine (er...make that a friend from the old days), Craig who lives in Phoenix.  Craig and I were virtually inseparable in our late teens, and had a lot of adventures including one time when we almost burned down his apartment complex (just for the record I was 20 and we were playing bazooka commander with bottle rockets - you can't always be young, but you can always be immature!)

I left a message for Craig at his office and he called me right back.  We had a great chat about the "good old days" and agreed that we need to get together.  As the itinerary stands, we should be cruising through Phoenix after we climb Humphrey's Peak in AZ, and on the way down to Guadeloupe Peak in Texas.  I really hope we can both find the time.

After filing up with gas, it was back on to Yosemite.  The road was good, and we were able to make it by 5pm.  We found a campground right outside the gate, and set up for two nights.  We were able to squeeze in a swim in the lake while we washed some clothes.  Although the day was burning hot (upper 90's) it is already starting to get chilly. Tomorrow we will travel the park, explore, hike, and maybe swim some more.
