Day 3 - 7/18/2004 - Downeast
Sleep was wonderful, and the ankle seems passable. We slept in this morning until 7 AM. Starting to get the hang of breaking down camp - complete breakdown and packing took just 30 minutes and put us on the way to RI by 7:30 AM. We had no problem reaching Jerimoth hill, the high point of Rhode Island at 812 ft. For the purists, the actual highpoint is on private property and is only available to visit a few times a year. Took some readings and pics, and got back on the road. We leisured our way through Portland Maine, and made it into camp at Hermit Island by 7PM. A quick salad and some Hamburger Helper, and we are done for the evening. The mosquitoes are bad.
Hunter and I both agreed to take a "tourist day" on Monday to have some fun and relax. We might get in some swimming and a movie.
