Mt Washington is truly one of the majestic peaks of the east.  It rises out of the clouds and in many cases stays in the clouds (as when we were there and the other 60% of the time.

Reaching the mountain is not difficult, and there are multiple means.  You can drive, hike, be driven, or even ride a train.  In the later case, there is an old "cog" railway that travels from the western side of the peak.  The drive up is the easist, provided your car is in good shape and you don't mind driving on skinny roads on the edge of cliffs.

The pictures below are from our trip on Jully 22nd, 2004.  This was Hunter's second trip up and my 4th.  I have only beeen up once when the view was clear and it was warm (summer of 1990).  That visit it was in the 60's and a very warm sun.  If you happen to hit on a nice day, make sure to hike down the backside to lake of the clouds hut.  It is really beautiful - but take a raincoat just in case the weather changes (which it can in minutes).  The mountain is covered in cairns to assist hikers in locating the trail during bad weather.
