Mt. Greylock is easily accessible by car, and is a nice rest-up if you have just completed a more stressful hike (such as Marcy or Katahdin). It is a "touristy" attraction, and even has a small lodge near the tower at the peak. On the back side of the mountain is a very nice camping area that was $6.00 a night (as of summer 2004). The campground is accessed via the dirt road to the left about 1.5 miles from the summit. There was a nice view of the valley on our visit, but given the blustery winds I would guess that they get their share of clouds and rain.
