Day 1 - 12/27/2004 - Snow, Snow, go away...
Here we are going off to another highpointing adventure. Already, we have had to change plans due to weather. We had planned to drive to Winston-Salem on Sunday to vistit family, and then proceed from there. Due to an unpredicted snowstorm that dumped 10 inches of snow on Chesapeake, we opted to delay a day and head straight on to the highpointing.
The computer told us the fastest way was up I-64, and catch I-81 southwest, so we headed out. We ended up leaving about 11:30 am on Monday, December 27th. It was an easy drive, and we stopped about 10 pm in Chattanooga TN at a cheap motel. So much for camping. I can't say the day was eventful, other than it is the first day on a trip, and as always we seem to hit traffic (though nota as bad as last time.)
Hopefully we will see warmer temperatures as we head south and west. Tomorrow we are shooting for the Mississippi Highpoint (Wooodall Mountain), and then on to camp near the Arkansas highpoint.
