Day 16 - 7/31/2004 - Westward again...

After summiting Eagle Mountain, it was time to head back to nail more highpoints.  Making it to our next destination would require all of our focus, diligence, and determination - it ain’t easy staying awake through North Dakota!  We left the Grand Marais area early in the morning, and cruised down '61 into Duluth.  We took our time getting there, and Hunter had a chance to taste smoked shrimp while I washed days of dust and mud off of the car.  We grabbed some lunch and started the long trek across MN to Fargo.  The straightest line took us through Brainerd ("Ooo yar?", "Yar!!"). Gradually the terrain flattened out into rolling plains, and then really flattened out.  We made it to Fargo by the end of the day, and found a KOA Kampground (sic) where we were are to dry out our stuff from the last storm we camped in.  We had enough time to get into Fargo for the evening, and were delighted to find a Barnes and Noble.  A little coffee, some light reading, and we were on our way back to sleep for the night.  Things should be even flatter tomorrow.
